The only one I've ever used was the straight truth: I slept through the alarm (happened twice to me on a 2 week rotation in Gen Surg, but ironically not on the night after my birthday).
sadly, these are all of my excuses as well, and i am a surgical intern =(
Hahah omg yet another hilarious comment.... I have to admit that over the past week (when I discovered your blog) I've spent most of my time reading and finishing all your blogs instead of studying for my midterm that I have tomorrow :( Any excuses I can use once I fail that are better than "I wasted my time reading blogs?"PS. I'm a huge fan of all your blogs, on here and mothers in medicine, which I relate to very much. Keep up the great work, you're an inspiration!
I remember saying " I have no excuse" and the surgeon was like "Good! An honest answer!!!"
I got stuck in the elevator! That one worked like a charm...lol twice!!
yeah, the "stuck in an elevator" always gets sympathy, especially from claustrophobes.
LOL. I've used 'got stuck in the lift'. But then I actually did get stuck in the lift. Twice. Also quite interesting to try to explain to the tech support lift lady in which lift you are on your very first day.
I performed the Heimlich maneuver on a person who was choking. He insisted Ihave lunch with him, and I guess I lost all track of time.
