Not alone....

Resident: "Are you like the rest of us and regret going to medical school?"

Me: "Huh?"

Resident: "Me and [senior resident] are always talking about how much we regret going to med school. What a mistake that was, right? Do you regret it too?"

Me: [glances at our attending, who is sitting right next to us] "Uh, no?"

  1. I spent half of medical school and a good part of residency regretting going to med school. Now that the training is basically over, I'm starting to see the light and think maybe it wasn't such a big mistake. I get where people who regret it are coming from.

  2. Any and all regrets of me going to med school is thoroughly expunged by the thought of me getting a good beating from my dad if he were to ever hear of it. In his defense I am a man and he is footing the majority of the bill. I help him by keeping my grades high enough for a partial scholarship.

So yeah... I have no regrets whatsoever.

  3. Thanks for providing a ray (one of many) of hope for me!

  4. I don't regret being a veterinarian but I regret every second of vet school. Vet school was awful and no matter how much I love being a vet, I'd never do it again. I'd be a kindergarden teacher instead.

  5. u regret it?

  6. Whenever I feel fed up with med school, I always remind myself - the grass is always greener. And I think, what else would I be doing if I wasn't in med school? And the answer is....nothing great.
