Help with cover?

I've never loved the cover of my book Baby City. It looks cool as a paperback, but I never liked it as an ebook cover. So for that and other reasons, I decided to redesign the cover.

But we're having some issues. Kelley, my coauthor, and I can't seem to agree on what we like. So I recruited some other opinions, and there's a lot of disagreement there too. So I want to get a larger sample size. Please tell me which cover you like best... or suggest an alternative:

NUMBER ONE:

NUMBER TWO:

NUMBER THREE:

NUMBER FOUR:

I am horrible at making decisions, so please help me. I'll refrain from telling you my favorites. Note that I will actually buy the high resolution version of which image I choose.

  1. 3 then 4, 2, 1...but I like the original

  2. 4 than 3. Now I need to go actually read the book ... it's just sitting there in my Kindle App waiting to be read.

  3. 3, 2, 4, and 1.

I like them all except #1. And #2's blue font clashes with the purple image. It stands out, but not in a good way. I still like it, though.

  4. Ugh, sorry to say, but i don't like any of them. They all look amateurish and not any better than the original.

I know it can feel good to make a decision and move forward, but I think it'd be worth waiting until you have something you love rather than the least bad of the lot.

    1. I never said I didn't love any of them....

I won't argue over whether they look amateur or not, but I don't have the high-resolution version of any of them yet and they all have shutter stock written over them. I intend to do a lot of polishing to make them look better, although the overall design will probably be about the same.

  5. I like #4 the best and I don't like #1 at all.

#2 and #3 are close, with a slight preference to #2 though I agree with someone above that the purple and blue don't really work well together.

  6. Hummmmm, you obviously don't like the "Carrer" of OBGYN, so why even have a cover with illurations?

  7. I like #2 and #4 (but I'd like #4 better in not-pink -- blue maybe?).

  8. 4, the original, 3, 2, 1.

  9. 3 Then 4, 2, 1

I think 3 is great because the grid pattern makes it look like a city, but then the actual images are of embryos, the population of baby city.

Loved this book by the way! :)

  10. 4, then 2, 3. But I'd pick a different font for the title.

    Don't like 1 at all.

  11. I don't really care for any of them & prefer the original!

  12. I like 4 the best, but somehow 1 grabs my attention.

  13. 3 is best. Hate 2.

  14. I like the original way better than any of the others. If I was forced to pick one I'd go with 4 then 3 but not in Pink. Pink for girls is so over done its bordering on nauseating for me.

  15. So after all that, I decided to just revise the original. I actually loved 2 the best, but a lot of people seemed to hate it vehemently. I was trying to make 3 work, but I couldn't get it the way I wanted, and after wasting an hour, I decided to just make the original look the way I wanted in the first place.

  16. The problem with all of them is the font. That's what makes them look "ok, but..."
I would experiment with different and more professional looking fonts, because the designs are generally good (I don't like the first one only).
Choosing a good font makes a ton of difference.

  17. 4, 3, then 2 - don't like 1

Oh shoot, late to the game.

  18. I love #4 - sorry to hear you chose a different direction!

  19. 3 & 4 are good. 1 is okay. 2 is awful.

  20. I don't like number 1, and numbers 3 and 4 are my favorites. I think the best cover of all is the one you already have. It caught my eye in the Kindle store, which is how I became a reader of your books and blog.
