Career

Preparing for career day at school:

Me: "what do you want to be when you grow up?"

My daughter: "maybe an author. But definitely not a doctor. Definitely not. Anything other than that."

Um. Okay....

  1. Unfortunately, as a doctor, I agree with her.

  2. Children are very perceptive. Your child probably sees how content and happy you are as an author and how unhappy you can get as a doctor.

  3. Wait until they get older. You change your mind a lot.

  5. My kid told me she didn't want a job like mine (or hubby's). When pressed further, she said she didn't want to only see the same people day-in and day-out. We both work in closed environments and she wants to work with LOTS of people.

  6. From the mouths of babes - they are always so honest. And often they want to forge their own paths.

  7. My 9y/o thinks being a doctor is gross. She wants to be a book reviewer. Which makes sense, as it involves her 2 favorite things - reading, and complaining :)
