I get asked questions in the course of my day that can be hard to answer.
"Will I ever be able to walk again?"
"Will I have another stroke?"
"Can you fix my back pain?"
So sometimes it can be a relief to hear a medical question that I absolutely can answer:
"Mommy, since you're a doctor, can you tell me.... is a thumb a finger?"
"YES. It is."
"Mommy says it is!! I told you so!"
I find the hardest question to answer is 'how much time do I have left?' I feel so unqualified to give an estimate and it feels wrong to even try.

I still remember, over 40 years ago, getting a question wrong in first grade. "How many fingers do you have?" apparently the correct answer was 10, but I said 8 (plus 2 thumbs).
