  1. Haha, we definitely have some people in that 3rd category, and we haven't even started the MSII year yet!

  2. Dermatology is ALWAYS the wrong answer, btw. (unless you're on derm elective)

I think all the MD-PhDs in my class are in category 3, except they all think they're going to win the Nobel Prize.

  3. You are safest saying whatever rotation you're on.

  4. Just stick to your guns and tell them what you are planning. Most are just trying to be friendly. Some, however, will tell you "well that's a waste of a medical education" regardless of what you answer (except their field of course).

Don't be the guy who says whichever rotation you are on- most of the residents and all the students will hate you.

  5. usually when an attending asks, i just be diplomatic and say i haven't decided yet and that i am getting a feel of everything!
it's worked so far. other them launching into a campaign on the advantages of their speciality!

  6. I like the "Um, a Doctor" answer. Whenever I say Rural Family Med they look at me like I'm a huge liar or a nutcase. Even the Rural Family MD's, actually come to think of it, *especially* the Rural Family MD's.

  7. We had a guy on our peds rotation who conveniently came up with pediatric cardiology during that rotation. We all thought he was full of shit. And he became a dermatologist.

  8. The person in the last picture needs to be given a wedgie for flagrant gunning.

  9. I think it's ok to say what you're really interested in. You never know, maybe the surgery attending is married to the OB program director and you could be missing out. Follow your interests!
