  1. Brilliant! All of these things happened to me, except I got a URI rather than a GI infection.

Another thing that happens 3rd year -- You will get an evaluation from someone who clearly has no idea who you are. Someone actually wrote that I should work on speaking up more. LOL!!!!!

  4. I'm a pre-med with 2 kids, so I am used to the 1st and 4th things at least!

  10. The pediatric thing is so true! While doing mine in nursing school, I got both influenza flu and a GI bug!

Just think of every surface on the pediatric ward as contaminated...

  12. i got entero as a PATIENT at a pediatric hospital during MS2. luckily, safe guarded me against entero part 2. i got a lil pneumonia, but that was about it on peds. not bad. but that's only b/c that little bugger coughed in my face on purpose.

the only fluid i got covered in was on L&D. but i had on spaceman booties, so i was good. and yes. it was very disturbing to present a 25 year old pt, stay at home mom, preggos with baby #3. i'm like, really? is this what i'm supposed to be doing?!?!

only right of passage you are missing is rectals and disimpactions. though that could be because dr. fizzy herself got away with never having to do a rectal. :O

  13. as did Old MD Girl, i also experienced the lovely mixture of RSV, croup, and whatever else URI the peds ward threw at me...

but you forgot the "M3 handshake"! DRE's are FUN!

  15. HAHAHAHAHA! this one is hilarious! My penlight sucked horribly, and I definitely had OB patients with more kids than me at a younger age, and they STILL SAID THAT I LOOKED YOUNG. I wanted to tell them to STFU.
