Recently, our hospital has started using automated transcriptions.... and the errors have been getting weird. The transcript from a recent dictation I did: "Patient was started on coumadin with the Lovenox Bridge."
As in...
Lovenox Bridge is falling down
Falling down...
Falling down...
That's not acutally an error, unless you are referring to the way the auto-dict typed the words. If so, then yes, that sounds strange.
ReplyDeleteThe autodictator is a strange machine. I think it's only a matter of time before one achieves sentience and starts screwing over humanity by changing all the orders/instructions in our dictations. We'd never know until it's too late.
ReplyDelete...I may have been watching 2001: A Space Odyssey last night.
I find the automated dictation system errors completely bizarre and hilarious. They're supposed to be corrected by humans, but... well, I don't know. The problem is that a lot of people are only working at our hospital a few days a month and really don't have time to correct their dictations, so these weird errors will be in the MR forever.
