That's silly, if you already know the patient and so on then you don't have to spend that much time on them pre-round?? There's post-wards to pay extra attention if needs be. Anyway, any doctor that insists on spending 30 minutes on a follow-up will never get his work done...cruel resident indeed!! @Solitary Diner, it is nuts... but I had a similar situation once when our firm had tonnes of patients.

But then since it had been 5 hours since you prerounded on the first patient you might as well re-preround on them in case anything had changed.

ReplyDeleteI definitely did NOT come in to preround at 3AM :)
