Were you really expected to carry 10 ICU patients? That's nuts!
That's silly, if you already know the patient and so on then you don't have to spend that much time on them pre-round?? There's post-wards to pay extra attention if needs be. Anyway, any doctor that insists on spending 30 minutes on a follow-up will never get his work done...cruel resident indeed!!@Solitary Diner, it is nuts... but I had a similar situation once when our firm had tonnes of patients.
But then since it had been 5 hours since you prerounded on the first patient you might as well re-preround on them in case anything had changed.
I did have 10 patients at one point, although usually less than that. I definitely did NOT come in to preround at 3AM :)
