P.S.A.

I'd just like to call everyone's attention to my new sidebar element: Currently Reading.

I'm going to update this with whatever book I'm reading right now. So if you've read the book and like it, you can be like, "OMG, that's such a good book!" And I'll be like, "I know, right?" Or maybe, "What are you talking about? This book sucks. Your taste in books is total crap."

It will be awesome.

  1. ooo I didn't know that was a book! Is it any good? I wasn't too interested after watching the movie previews but maybe the book is more interesting?

  2. That book is actually required reading in the "work and family" human development class at my university. :) My Mom took the class and got it on audiobook so I've listened to it but never read the whole thing.

    It's awesome, though!

  4. I read this book in an airport going home for Christmas break back in 2003... or maybe it was 2004. It was already in paperback Fizzy, God. You are SO behind! (Haha just trying out being a troll ;-))

I actually did like this book. Though if I recall correctly, it ends with her giving up her fast paced male oriented career, and ending with her starting her own FEMALE oriented high powered company (baby food or something??) and allowing her to spend more time with her family. Or maybe I'm confusing this book with another one of its genre. Anyway, I found it to be a bit of a let down. I mean, why does the female protagonist ALWAYS seem to decide that it's best to succumb to her femaleness, and just do a female job that allows her to spend time with her children (as God intended)? Why does this story never end with the annihilation of the male chauvinist pig at her original male oriented job? It's not like either one is terribly realistic. Anyway.

If you like this book, you might like The Undomestic Goddess. I think you've mentioned liking Kinsella in the past, so you might have already seen this one.

  5. OMDG: I already read The Undomestic Goddess and liked it a lot. All her books are good.

Hmm... maybe I should switch the "Currently Reading" to the book that I just finished to avoid people feeling compelled to tell me the ending of the book.

  6. I read this book a long time ago (when it was still in hardcover). Really enjoyed it, I hope that the movie is decent.

  8. Fizzy -- Well giant caveat, I read the thing 8 years ago, and I may be remembering the ending to a different book. Hopefully I didn't spoil it for you. But honestly, would you expect anything less of a chic lit novel?

  9. OMDG: It's okay :) That ending sounds mildly familiar to me too, like it's something I read before.

  10. Love the sidebar idea! I was thinking of making that a separate page but...hmmm...that makes more sense. Hope you don't mind me copying your idea (as my mother used to always say, 'imitation is the highest form of flattery'.) :)
