*I actually thought I was 100% in the wrong for this one until I had this same exact situation come up with another senior resident, and she just laughed at me when I apologized for not having done the discharge summary and said, "I think I can write a discharge summary myself."
Fuck her. She's just playing "I'm making you feel guilty for taking your scheduled day off."
ReplyDeleteI think I've been the cruel resident before. My poor juniors.
ReplyDeleteShe was probably PMS-ing
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't you more psychic? Geez, you should know these things are going to happen.
ReplyDeleteJessica strikes again...
ReplyDeleteWhy does the cruel resident have more hair than you? :( Are hairier people meaner?
ReplyDeleteOne of my classmates was paged today by her CTU attending to do a death dictation.
ReplyDeleteThe patient died overnight on a Friday in early September. We have been off that particular service since Sept 13th. My friend was neither present at the arrest nor on call that weekend.
That's so stupid. I'm really glad that BS system of making the people below you feel like crap doesn't exist at my school. And I'm glad not all of your senior residents were crappy like that first one.
ReplyDeletePGY2 here. I never understood why people get so freaked out about discharge summaries. Whoever happens to be present on the day the patient is discharged should write the summary.
ReplyDeleteIt's usually less complex than a progress note!
drellen: Sometimes if a longterm patient has a planned d/c, it's a PITA. But if a patient is there three days for a pyelo, it's really not. Jessica just wanted to yell.
ReplyDeleteLBP: You're right, it was Jessica. Every bad intern-resident story I have is about her.
ReplyDeleteRenin: I'm not sure why I only had one strand of hair and Jessica had two.
