When I was doing a pediatric brain injury unit, I noticed that the attending had put several of the patients on chlorophyll tablets. About half the kids on the unit were getting chlorophyll.
Without cheating and looking it up, do you know why this might be?
Hint: It wasn't because they weren't eating and he was hoping they'd start making their own food.
(Answer will appear in the comments by the end of the day.)
Off the top of my head - antioxidants in chlorophyll sop up free radicals released by massive neuronal damage?
ReplyDeleteThis is the best my first-thing-in-the-morning brain can do.
They were anemic.
ReplyDeleteBowel incontinence, to reduce the odor. Old trick.
ReplyDeleteAnti-inflammatory
ReplyDeleteProbably the same reason my sister's midwife put her on chlorophyll after her massive post-partum hemorrhage: anemia. Since chlorophyll is similar in structure to hemoglobin, should help to rebuild blood supply (Oh, except that the center ion isn't iron!)
ReplyDeleteThey had mild PLANT-ar fasciitis? I crack myself up
ReplyDeleteHaha that's awesome! Yes, I laughed.
DeleteI'm going with the farts.
ReplyDeleteTo increase their levels of Chloride?
ReplyDeleteGet it, chloro fill... Hehehe
Chorophyll contains magnesium--- to treat constipation (used as a laxative).
ReplyDeleteI learned in class today that people take chlorophyll to make their poop not smell so bad. We were learning about ostomy bags. I used to put chlorophyll in my dogs water to make her breath not stink so much.
ReplyDeleteThis is my world and I can't guess why. I'd have them all on Omega 3s instead.
ReplyDeleteIf giving them chlorophyll, water and putting them in the sun actually allows them to make their own food, this would be a convenient solution for all of the picky eaters who refuse to eat their vegetables (or anything but candy).
ReplyDeleteFizzy! You gotta tell us why!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteA few people guessed right: as usual, it's all about poop. The chlorophyll was to keep the BMs from smelling.
