Don't take it seriously

Somehow I feel like this needs to be said:

The only things that truly matter to me are the health and welfare of my family, especially in scary times like these.

I write Weekly Whine posts to entertain you guys, as a distraction from the real world and real problems. Some people enjoy them, some not so much. But don't for even a second think that any of the issues I write about are ones that I feel vehemently about. Please believe me, I am not devoting any brain space to worrying about 3-D movies or kids with hyphenated last names. The things I truly worry about are not things I would ever write about on a public cartoon blog.

I'm not bothered by serving sizes any more than Jerry Seinfeld is bothered by the little black box on the plane.* Those posts are meant to be lighthearted and entertaining. But if it truly angers you so much to read the Weekly Whines, maybe you should avoid them for the sake of your own sanity. No hard feelings.

*Seriously, why don't they make the whole plane out of the little black box??

  2. Fizzy, you do what you feel is right! You didn't get a huge fanbase by writing such passive posts. Your blog is a delight to follow and I check it everyday. I am also really happy that you update it everyday as many other blogs do, so thank you for that!

    Please, keep it up!

    2. Thank you very much. I wrote something a little out of character today, but in the future, it's back to the usual :)

  3. I'm bewildered by the number of bitchy comments you get on so many posts. Seriously, why are these people still reading your blog if they don't get your sense of humour and think you're a horrible person? And why do they bother commenting? I didn't agree with your post about people loving their jobs, but decided not to go on a 500 word rant about it because a) I have better things to do and b) I don't really care if some blog writer has a different opinion to me.

For what it's worth, I find most of your posts entertaining. And sometimes the drama in the comments is even more entertaining.

    1. I think that one post I made about the holidays set some people off and also attracted new readers who might not "get" me. I like occasional drama too, but sometimes I feel like it gets too far, and I feel like I understand why Michelle Au disabled her comments for a while. I mean, she had the most benign blog ever, yet she was still getting trolled.

  4. Props to you for the way you handled this, Fizzy, with your head on your shoulders, willingness to continue healthy debate/conversation and a peace offering. Christmas spirit is in the air!

I will probably still voice my opinions if I disagree with you, but I will try even harder to *just take a chill pill* in the knowledge that your Weekly Whine is actually a weekly 'OMG that's like, silly' :-) Apologies if I have offended you in the past.

Happy holidays to you and your loved ones, especially especially in this climate. :)

  5. Dr. Fizzy,

i like your Weekly Whines because they let me know that even though you are a Doctor (my most admired profession), you are still human.

Have a lovely Holiday and please keep writing...and cartooning (is that a word?)

  6. And what's the deal with airline food?

  7. Why they don't make the whole plane the smae way as the black box: in order to protect that space in the plane in the same way as the space in the box, the plane would have to be much thicker and much heavier, requiring a greater amount of fuel to get off the ground, probably more than would fit in the plane. The amount of material to make the plane and the amount fuel required would make it impossibly expensive to fly.

The deal with airline food is that it has to be something pre- packaged that can be heated in the oven they have in the plane, and things taste different at altitude. The altitude makes food more bland, in order to get flavour much more spices etc. are needed. It's tricky to know how food will taste when made on the ground and served in the air - there's a lot or work going on to improve the quality of airplane food.
