Losing my mind

How I know I'm losing my mind:

I always knock on the door before I go in to see a patient (then I come in without waiting for an answer). The way I know I'm losing my mind is that I accidentally knocked on the door to the stairwell last week.

I have also recently got out my keys to open the door the stairwell. (They don't require keys.)

  1. Maybe Aricept is right for you. Ask your doctor.

  2. This is the best you've written in months. As a working mother I too have my moments...

  3. Just start grooming yourself when you flub like that -- it's what my cat does when he misses a leap to the bookcase. Go ahead, lick your paw, that's right .... Tricia

  4. Hey, I used to try to badge in to my apartment, my car, my parents house - even the grocery store one memorable day. It happens. You may be going nuts, but this isn't a symptom.

  5. I am a pathologist. I have (more than once) knocked on the door TO MY OWN OFFICE when LEAVING the office.

I have also responded to a toddler asking, "Mommy?" from the back seat of the car with, "Come in!"

    It's brain fry! :)

    1. The worst is when I'm calling some random place like the daycare or a takeout restaurant and I instinctively say, "Hello, this is Dr. Fizzy." So embarrassing.

    2. Oh I HATE when I answer MY cell phone with, "Thank you for calling CVS blah blah blah". I want to just hand up and pretend it never happened.

  8. Have you ever spoken to a patient, nurse, resident like you do to your toddler?

    1. Yes, but a lot of my patients are mentally impaired.

    2. I snapped at an intern once to get him to hurry. In my defense, he was being intolerably slow.

  10. Punt to Psych! I used to work in a place where they had motion sensors on the light switches. It took years to stop expecting lights to turn on automatically everywhere else.

  11. It is a funny joke, maybe you are too busy thinking of your work?

  12. Or when you call somebody, wait for them to pick up for a couple rings, and forget who you're phoning, or even that you're on the phone. Then they answer the phone and you're like "Hello? Who's this?"

Or when my parents dial their own home phone and ask "Where are you?" when I'm visiting them.
