Me: "Have you been having any fevers?"
Patient: "Yes, every night."
Me: "How high have your temperatures been?"
Patient: "Sometimes it's normal... around 98 degrees. But sometimes it's like 117 or 120 degrees."
Me: "!"
Patient: "Is that very high?"
I'm loving this little story. I get that with patients all the time and then you ask that important question, "are you measuring your temperatures?" In which, they inevitably reply, "no, that's what it feels like though."
ReplyDeleteAs one of my teachers would say - that value is not compatible with life.
ReplyDelete"And that's Kelvin. You should see it Fahrenheit."
ReplyDeleteBut my temperature usually runs 95!
