  1. The trick is to get them discharged before the last scene!!

  2. I've walked in on the last one way too many times on rounds.

    2. As a peds resident, I have walked into parents having sex in their childs room and even a blowjob on the post-partum unit doing nursery rounds. I can't even fathom getting in the mood in your childs room in a children's hospital for god sakes!!

  3. Note to self: adding "masturbation sign" to other signs such as "doing heroin in the bathroom" and "ordering pizza to hospital room" as a clinical indicator that the patient is ready for discharge.

  6. It does, in inpatient settings. Not only have I seen it on rounds, but I was in for 9 days once (meningitis) and asked my wife (at the time) for a little favor. No big deal. Bodily functions still have to happen and I was in my 20s.

I'm in EM now and haven't seen it, though I'm sure I will. Seen quite a few post-coital injuries, both solo and w/partner. Normal stuff.
