Am I the only one who feels like ear buds really hurt your ears? (Stethoscopes also hurt my ears)
I usually use the ones that hook around my earlobes, but I can't find one like that that I can use as a hands-free device for my iPhone. So I'm stuck having my ears in pain.
No, you're not the only one. I love to listen to music when I run but my darn ears hurt if I do it for too long.
ReplyDeleteI have found one I can tolerate. Yurbuds. You can take a look at them in sporting goods stores (for the really fancy ones) or Target for the basic ones.
I have the same problem. Ear buds hurt my ears and pop out all the time. Search 'over-ears headphones', there are plenty out there.
ReplyDeleteI bought ones that came with three different sizes of the earbud part and found the size that felt best for me.
ReplyDeleteI like those ones too! The middle size works best for me, plus they're sqishy, so even if it is a bit too big, they don't hurt...
DeleteI have Bluetooth headphones for when I exercise because I hate earbuds. Kinivo makes them. They are a little awkward for in the car, so I'm investing in a decent speaker Bluetooth.
ReplyDeleteGo to tweakedaudio.com I have the same problem, but these are really good, they have plain earbuds or earbuds with a mic. for hands free. I have been wearing them all day every day and no problem. Enter the discount code fluid for 30 percent off.
ReplyDeleteAlso, apple's newest earbuds are shaped differently and are comfortable and actually don't fall out of my ears.
I had the same problem with my stethoscope, but ear buds don't bother me. I switched to the smaller sized ear pieces on it and it made a world of difference. I also feel it sounded better, but that might just be in my head. More comfort definitely though.
ReplyDeleteYou can get custom earbuds or earpieces, that are molded to fit your own ear canal. They're of course more expensive than off-the-shelf ones, but they're amazingly comfortable. They also make a better seal and block out more ambient sound (which I suppose could be either a positive or negative, depending on where you are).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice, everyone :)
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem and even the over the ear hook ones hurt me, though it takes longer for it to start hurting with those ones. I still use over the head ones. Sometimes when I'm running those aren't positioned quite right and even that kind can hurt! I just have extremely sensitive ears I guess, lol.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if you're looking for a car solution or something else, but for the car I use a bluetooth speakerphone. There's tons of options on amazon and no headphones needed!
I find skull candy earbuds to be quite comfortable. Another solution: my child has hearing aids, for which we have custom earmolds made. They're not terribly expensive, and I'm sure there's a company that makes earmolds for earbuds.
ReplyDeleteYurbuds for women are the best. To echo the illustrious commenters above. Three sizes for those of us with tiny ears. Worth the extra money.

Wow...I thought I was the only one. Great suggestions, I basically don't listen to music anymore because the ear buds either hurt or fall out of my ears constantly (and I feel ridiculous wearing over-ear headphones while working out or walking) I'm going to look into Yurbuds.
