Spam filter

I really have to question google blogger's spam filters if they did not flag the following comment as spam:

7 comments:

  1. maybe you're being recruited as a jihadi bride....

    1. I had a feeling that it said something pertinent, but I couldn't tell as I don't read Arabic.

I suppose my question is that if I posted something in French or German, would your reaction be the same? I am not accusing you of anything good or bad, I'm just curious about the societal construct at work here.

    2. The truth is that I assumed it was spam, because why would somebody who actually reads my blog and therefore presumably speaks English and knows I don't speak some random language post a comment in that language if it's not spam? It makes no sense to me.

    3. Also, just so you know, the person above was being funny. It was most definitely not a love note to me in Arabic, which was also obvious by the fact that the text was a hyperlink. I decided to translate it and it is a link to some voice chat site in Saudi Arabia.

  3. Arabic speaker here. The comment is indeed a spam. The person nick name is madness in madness. The comment apparently contains links (or just names) to different Arabic chat rooms.
