Lesser evil

I haven't written anything political on here in a long time, but I have to say, with the primaries officially underway, I spend a good amount of time with my husband (who I usually agree with politically) arguing over our choice of candidates.

He thinks that Trump becoming president is the worst thing that could happen to this country.

I think that Ted Cruz becoming president is worst thing that could happen to this country.

In reality, the idea of Trump becoming president is incredibly frightening. But on the other hand, Cruz is vocally against all the issues that are personally really important to me: Gay marriage, Planned Parenthood/abortion/birth control, global warming, gun control, Obamacare.  Don't get me wrong, Trump is on the wrong side of all of these issues, but not quite as vehemently.

On the daily show, they compared it to a blood clot versus cancer. I can't remember who was who.

  1. I keep watching the news and thinking, "Is this a joke?!?" I agree with Jono... You're both right.

  2. What is even funnier is I went and looked at the Democrats. They have their panties in a snit because several want Hillary, and its like, did you ask your constituents? What are you doing dictating to Bernie Sanders whether or not he should run? It says a lot when they are dictating who should be the candidate vs. the voters, tells you a lot about these Congressmen and Senators.

  3. Pity there's not a spot of the ballot for "Really? Is this the best you could do?"

  4. My wife grew up in Red China during Mao's Cultural Revolution. She has known true poverty and starvation under a fanatical regime. She's a naturalized US citizen now and offered me this unique perspective - "The choices this election cycle are pretty crappy, but at least we HAVE choices; AND in 4 short years, if you don't like who is in charge, you can always vote them out". We may have Dumb and Dumber running for President, but at least we have choices; and change in political leadership in the USA doesn't involve bloody revolutions or feckless inheritance of power.

  5. Looking at the Republican slate is a good time to remind yourself of what George Carlin said: “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

    1. I agree with this 100%, and I am somewhat of a conservative right wing republican

    2. I lived in Oklahoma for a while during a contentious election and it gave me a very good understanding of why the country runs as it does.

  6. I do not agree with most of what comes out of Trumps mouth but he is a breath of fresh air compared to all the candidates that live in fear of the media. I think the county needs Cruz vs Bernie. You know what they stand for, they don't try to move to the middle to make people happy. Put those two up and let the people decide which way the county should go, losing side support it or move.
