The good stuff

I've been struggling with sinus issues on and off for the last few months.  I took Sudafed a few times and it didn't help much, which is generally the case with Sudafed these days.

Then a friend of mine pointed out to me that I could get the "good" Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) at the pharmacy without a prescription if I show my ID.  So I did.  And poof..... the haze I've been in was finally lifted!

While I was happy to feel better, I'm also pissed off.  Sudafed (phenylephrine) is essentially USELESS.  I've taken it multiple times and it does NOTHING.  Why bother even selling it?  Pseudoephedrine is so much better!

Stupid drug addicts ruin everything.  Patients can't even get neurontin anymore without being made to feel like a criminal.  Neurontin?  Seriously??  That stuff is practically a sugar pill.  How do you get high off that??

  1. Do NOT even get me started! A family medicine doctor friend of mine said he saw an obvious increase in the number of sinus infections, etc after they made this change. I slap my ID on the counter and say "give me as much as I am allowed!"

  2. I had to show my ID to purchase OTC cough medicine at my local grocery store. I am 63! The cashier told me it's because kids buy it in mass quantities to get high on. Made my stomach hurt just thinking about drinking that much of it. I can barely get down the recommended dose.

  3. Wait there are two types? I thought all sudafed was pseudoephedrine? Did they change that since I was a teen?

    1. When I was a kid, it was all pseudoephedrine. Then they changed it to phenylephrine at some point due to people making meth out of it.

  4. Stupid FDA banned Phenylpropanolamine. That was the good stuff.
